What is Cascara Sagrada?
Cascara Sagrada is a shrub grown in the northwest, used as a laxative since the 1800s. The bark needs to be aged for about a year to decrease strength. After the Cascara Sargrada Bark is harvested, the laxative is to strong to take and can cause intestinal problems. The aged bark is ground into powder and used in herbal extracts.
